"I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and decided bariatric surgery was the only way to improve my health," she said. "I’m a single mother [and] have an eight-year-old daughter I need to be around for. I need to be healthy."

When Kerri realized that diet and exercise alone wouldn't address her obesity, she sought the help of The Surgical Weight Loss team at NWH at Chappaqua Crossing. "I chose Northern Westchester Hospital because I heard such great reviews about Dr. [Mitchell] Roslin," she said.

Under Roslin’s leadership, the NWH Surgical Weight Loss Program is currently working with industry experts to develop new techniques and procedures that are advancing the field of weight loss surgery, in an easy and convenient Westchester location. The hospital's award-winning bariatric surgeons have received recognition for their performance of laparoscopic lap band, gastric bypass and gastric sleeve procedures. In the hands of the experts, Kerri underwent minimally invasive bariatric surgery and immediately seized her new healthy life.

In addition to the surgery itself, Kerri was guided through her weight loss journey with support from the hospital's nutrition team. “Nutrition counseling helps me figure out different ways to eat and what better options are," she said. "I had been making bad decisions all along. The bariatric nutritionist, Brianna, is a registered dietitian. She explained things that I would have never thought of myself, different things to try eating. She would give me some great ideas that would help me.”
